Spiritual Direction

  • Spiritual direction is an ancient ministry of the church with roots all the way back to the desert mothers and fathers of the 3rd century a.D. This is a time-tested practice for pursuing wisdom in our lives.

  • In this work, two people put their full attention to the work of God in one of their lives. A spiritual director listens with you as you listen to God.

  • Spiritual direction is fruitful for anyone who wants a deeper experience with God. Every Christian can benefit from Spiritual direction. For those who get a paycheck from a church or a ministry, there's a particular urgency for spiritual direction. There are too many people in ministry burning themselves out with unhealthy emotional habits.

  • Spiritual direction provides a safe haven for asking big questions, expressing fearsome doubts,  saying things out loud you can't say anywhere else, hearing big questions that nudge us nearer to God.

  • Whether you're serving in any role on a church staff, a missionary, church planter, seminary student or church volunteer, meeting regularly with a spiritual director is one important piece of a self-care plan for doing ministry for the long haul.  In the frantic busyness of life, work, family, & ministry, spiritual direction holds a still, quiet, & intentional space in your schedule for listening deeply to what God has been speaking to you.
